I had always been a bit on the bigger side for my height. I know that when I say 200lbs, a lot of people will say things about their weight and their body. However for me, this simply was not healthy! I was eating awful, never active, and overall so unhappy with my appearance and the way my body functioned. Health is so much more than your number, and creating a lifestyle rather than a quick solution will really change your life! Here are the three things I did to lose over 70lbs and keep it off!

1.) Find a physical activity you LOVE! For me, this was weight lifting. I had tried tons of different things like classes, running, etc. But the key is to find something you absolutely love and feels more like a hobby than a chore. The last thing you want is to hate working out because then you won’t stick to it! Eventually, this will become a personality trait of yours and something you associate with yourself!

2.) Eat for your body! Do NOT go on a diet! They are so awful for your mental health as they aren’t something you plan on long term. At least for me, restricting myself only led to me binging days later. I allow myself to eat intuitively, having cravings when I want them, but knowing the outcome of those foods on my mood and bodily functions helps me to limit the overconsumption I was participating in. Work on learning what foods make you feel your best psychically and incorporate those the best you can!

3.) Find a friend. It’s really important to hold yourself accountable. Since I work out before work (4am wake up time) I would try to find a friend to meet me at the gym before work. When it’s just you it’s easy to say “oh I’ll just sleep in today” but when you know your buddy will be waiting, it’s a lot harder to text them “I just don’t feel like it” when you know they’re out there putting in the work! This really helped me to have to admit the truth to myself, when I didn’t go it was simply because I didn’t feel like it. And that mindset is what had gotten me to square one to begin with.

Again, every single person and body is different! I just wanted to share some things that helped me lose and keep off the weight without crazy dieting. Remember not to compare yourself to other bodies, your 150lbs will look totally different than someone else’s 150lbs, and so on. What’s important is that you FEEL your best physically!
