Hike this ACTIVE Volcano in Guatemala

Calling all adventure lovers! You need to hike the Pacaya Volcano when you visit Guatemala.

Located about an hour and a half drive from Antigua, Guatemala lies the Pacaya Volcano which is one of the more accessible and popular hikes in the country. It is much more beginner friendly but still described as a "medium difficulty" hike, so be sure to factor that in to your decision of going up.

In total, it takes around 2 hours to reach the top with 1500 feet in elevation gain. The hike will cost you $27 to enter the national park and hire a mandatory guide. You can purchase food along the way during each rest stop. If you have difficulty with the hike, you can hire a horse to take you up for $40, or a walking stick to assist you for $1.

My personal favorite part of the hike was getting to roast marshmallows at the end inside some of the volcano rocks. This is truly the experience of a lifetime and you can't miss it when you're in Guatemala!
