should you get an iPad for uni?

hey guys! in this post, i’ll be talking about whether an iPad is really necessary for uni - i’m sure a lot of us are going back to school so i thought this would be useful information to have if you are still debating on getting one!

💵 pricing

price wise, now is definitely the best time to get devices from apple (macbooks and iPads) as they’re having education discounts which allow you to get airpods on top of your device! i highly recommend it especially if you are someone who likes working outside and need to join a zoom call or even just watch videos!

👩‍💻 productivity

i feel that having an iPad has made my uni life a lot more efficient and it has given me a lot more time to be able to do other things. for example, digital notetaking is much smoother for me and you never have to forget about having the right notebook. i use GoodNotes which is now free on the app store and i used daily when i was a full time student! (i can do an in depth review of the app soon hehe) you can also take advantage of a lot of free apps such as Notion to organise deadlines, assignments and also other things such as tracking expenses or planning trips! my fave part is as long as your iPad is with you, a lot of these small worries are now gone and they’re all a few taps away on your screen!

💻 laptop + iPad? is it necessary to have both?

i’m sure most of us already have a laptop and are wondering if an additional iPad is still necessary and i would say yes! personally, i leave my macbook at home and the iPad is the only device i bring around with me since it is much lighter and smaller. i also like to have my laptop playing lectures or on zoom calls with my iPad on the side ready to take notes. there are tons of scenarios where i end up using both at the same time, so i feel that the usages of both do not overlap.

🎞 entertainment + other things you can do

lastly, i find myself on netflix or youtube a lot to relax at the end of the day - the bigger screen makes it easier to watch shows and is probably better than staring than your phone screen.

➡️(pro tip: if you have the iPad, you can have a Netflix show playing picture in picture while doing school work… hehe)

✨ if you are someone who values your time a lot and you prefer to spend time on the things that matter, the iPad is the best fit for you!
