The day I almost died 🥲

I was driving back from work on April 16 with my windows down enjoying a little quiet time and thinking about whether I should get Popeyes or eat the food in my fridge. I kept on bargaining with myself that if I ate the food this one time I could get Popeyes that weekend.

I'm driving around some super twisty roads but I've driven here before so I'm managing. I get to an intersection with a yellow flashing light and I remember slowing down because there was a speed check meter in that area even though I had the right of way because I was on the main road and the cross over road was a random side road with a stop sign. My odometer said I was going 30 and I kept my foot on brake trying to slow down just a little more.

It all happened so fast, I'm a super overthinker so I always think of what I'd doing these kinds of situation and I did none of that. As the white car shot out in front going 50 on a 25 and completely ignoring the stop sign; it quickly registered to me that there was no way to stop this.

I gripped the staring wheel as tight as I could and braced for impact...the next part is a bit of a blurr but I remember open wing my eyes grabbing my phone and trying to get out of the car because I thought it would explode.

My car was turned in the total opposite direction of the way I was going and all the airbags were deployed. Passerby's kept trying to help and letting me know I wasn't in the wrong and to hang in there as my head pounded, whether from the accident or the panick I still don't know.

The people who came to pick me up in the ambulance were the rudest people I've ever met. The first thing the paramedic asked was 'what'd you do here?' Looks like you recked that ladies car' I heard a Jamaican man (I'm Jamaican I instantly recognized the accent) shout 'what the f*** are you asking her she's not in the wrong and you aren't the police.' I remember thanking God for this random stranger because I was unable to defend myself at that moment.

They put me in a neck brace (two white males) and brought me to the ambulance). While inside one guy kept cursing profusely asking 'why the f*** were there so many people out there' my family ended up coming because I crashed maybe 8mins from home and they banged on the ambulance trying to get in but the one guy kept cursing and saying he wouldn't let them in as I screamed begging him to.

They then proceeded to cut my pants off saying it was standard procedure even while I pleaded with them as I was super uncomfortable and insisted I had on no injury on my leg...I could keep going but this is long in summary #worsedayofmylife #car #carcrash #totalled #totalledmycar
