I applied for a job which I was familiar with to see if I'm still 'employable' after my career break.
Surprisingly, I was called up for an interview and even though I was a nervous wreck, I went with it.
However, after the interview, I realised that it was more demanding than my previous job and even if its well paid, I don't know if I'm able to handle that much pressure again.
I had a good talk with the HR regarding the jobscope and was honest with her regarding my family planning since it was one of my main priorities.
I told them that I might have to take medical appointments or annual leave..
She was thoughtful enough to explain the teams expectations.
After the session ended, I left feeling slightly disappointed that the job is not what I really wanted.. though I'm glad that I was given the opportunity to meet with a reputable company, learn their ways of the business and being considered for the interview.
My key takeaways
📍I am hopeful that I will get a job that will be well suited for me and my current priorities
📍I know my limits on what I can handle and I will not feel bad for having boundaries for the sake of my mental health and well being.
📍I can take this time to focus on doing things that will benefit me in future.. etc taking courses, learning new things, doing smtg I really like
📍Things will work out for me eventually.. if I have the patience/faith and if I keep putting myself out there... I will get the job.
📍Every 'rejection' is a redirection.. and hopefully to better things.
📍It's going to be Ok.
