For the next couple of posts, I will be sharing some stretches I do in the morning and after I come back from work.

These stretches has helped reduced my back and neck pain (as I mostly be seated throughout the day for my 9-5 work).

In this post, I am sharing the upper body portion of stretches you can do before you take a shower in the morning. Oh and guess what! Even in-between your 9-5 routine too! You don’t have to get up and get a mat for it, you can even do it while you’re seated at your desk!

So here’s the breakdown of each stretches:

Neck stretch (left-right side|upward-inward)

This routine, stretches the sides of your neck. If your working routine requires you to be in front of the computer from 9-5 (or even longer), then this stretch will do some justice to your neck! What a better and simpler exercise to treat that stiff neck.

Heart Open

This routine is very simple! All you gotta do is bring both hands behind your back and puff up your chest! But, there’s a catch with this stretch. You have to push your hands towards the floor to fully optimize this stretch. You have to feel your shoulder being pushed back and your upper part of your back (your wings) being glued together. And that’s when you know you’re fully optimizing this stretch.

The Easy Twist

This one might be a little tricky to do. But I guarantee you, your lower back will thank you for it! You have to be seated straight up and start to twist your upper body to the left and alternate after 1-2 minutes (or even longer, which ever you desires) to the right. But remember! You have to sit straight up and twist. Otherwise you won’t feel the stretches in your lower back.

These are the stretches you should be doing before you start your day! And the best part is, you can do these stretches under 15 minutes and no equipment needed! Your neck and back will thank you later! Do this every morning and you’ll feel refreshed and ready to rock your day! Oh and don’t forget to focus on your breath for 1 minute after you do these stretches. It helps to set the tone and pace for your day too!
