1. “slasher girls & monster boys”: this book is comprised entirely of short horror stories and it just so happens to be my favorite book ever. the stories cover a range of horror genres such as psychological horror to supernatural horror to gruesome horror, so there’s something for every horror fan.

2. “the lost girl”: this book is more teenage horror as it isn’t too long and the main characters are teenagers, but i think everyone should give it a chance. the book gets off to a quick start, so don’t worry if you have a short attention span, you’ll find action really quickly.

3. “the skin collector”: this book was a bit more suspenseful to me as the killer in the book is very sneaky and methodical. the writer does a good job with cliff hangers and plot twists. the only “problem” with this book is there are other books written by the author that would make the experience of “the skin collector” better by reading them first, however you don’t have to.

4. “gothic tales”: this is another book of short stories with a very dark, eerie feel to them because of the supernatural elements brought into the stories. a lot of the stories have a feminist aspect or patriarchal aspect to them that challenged the views at the time “gothic tales” was published.

5. “the pillow friend”: this book is a classic story of Aesop’s Fables (be careful what you wish for) and it honestly gave me the chills! if you have a fear of dolls, i’d read this book with the lights on.

6. “let the right one in”: this book has been made into a movie, but i still think the book is better. this book surrounds a kid and another boy who just so happens to be a vampire in stockholm. be careful with this book as it can be TRIGGERING and/or UPSETTING because of some p.o.v.s that are written.

7. “from the corner of his eye”: this book can also be TRIGGERING, but a lot less than the previous book. the book has a strong female main character (as well as a male but he’s whatevs) which is always refreshing. the story is from three different perspectives that of a killer, a genius, and a bad b!tch. the book gives a diverse lineup of characters with their stories and the effort put in is amazing.
