I always go for the minimalist approach when packing and my post partum hospital bag was no exception. Almost anything you will need when it comes to you and baby, the hospital will provide. You do not need to pack: diapers, maxi pads, derma blast, disposable underwear, and any medication you or baby might need. Here are a few things I packed in my hospital bag:

1-    A good chapstick. Hospitals always seem to be really dry and between that and your body being deconditioned, you are bond to get chapped lips. And although the hospital does have chapstick, it is not always a good brand. I love this Pink Bubbly lip care from Vaseline.

2-    A good face moisturizer, for the same reason. Your skin will get really dry and this is something you can apply to your face while laying in bed if needed. I love the Overnight Cream from Beauty Counter.

3-    Postpartum stitch oil: this is great for after baby and to use down below during labor while you are contracting to help prevent treating. Trust me!

4-    Any other specific toiletries and skin care you use at home. The hospital will have shampoo and conditioner and a basic body watch but bring your own products that you use at home and love. Nothing makes you feel more put together than using your nice skin care products after that first shower in the hospital.

5-    A nice nursing friendly night gown. The hospital does provide one and I highly suggest wearing that one during push time but once the baby comes and you are all cleaned up you will be glad you brought your own. This one from Hatch Baby is my absolute favorite.

6-    Your own blanket from home for extra level cozy,

7-    Embroidered name hoops/plates/tags for newborn photos in the hospital. I found these on Etsy and love them!

That’s all I can think of for now. The countdown is on, good luck!
