Okay. I’m going to get real with you and tell you the things you may not have heard that you wish you did.

1. You don’t need to go to college right out of HS. Unless you’re a trust fund kid or you’ve gotten a full scholarship, you’re likely better off jumping into the workforce.

2. Don’t go to school just to go to school. Go to college if the career path you choose REQUIRES a college degree. Some careers you can go with a much cheaper certification course that you can get done in 2 years or less.

3. Consider going to a trade school instead. There is such a massive shortage in skilled workers in careers like carpentry, HVAC, trucking, etc because more people make money off of you going to college for a degree that won’t get you as much of a ROI (return on investment). And guess what? People in the trades make good money when they hone in on their craft, and AI won’t be taking their jobs away…at least not anytime soon.

4. Index cards are still a great way to remember information. There are plenty of studies that show pen and paper help with retention of information over digital notes.

5. Keep your tech to just what you need, don’t overthink it. My 6yo iPad still gets the job done for what I need it to. Look into refurbished tech from reputable businesses. Once this can’t keep up with my needs, I’ll grab something refurbished. Not only will the tech be cheaper, but so will the accessories.

6. Don’t put more on a credit card than you can pay off before the statement ends if you do decide to utilize one.

So take your time. Do your research. Keep things simple. You can do this.
