-tuna (skipjack)

These fish (and many others!!) provide a multitude of beneficial nutrients for you and baby during pregnancy.

A study by Hibbeln et al. (the ALSPAC study) found that although women who consumed seafood during their pregnancy had higher mercury levels, they actually had better pregnancy outcomes compared to women who ate no seafood (2007).

This study found that women who consumed >340 g (~ 12 oz.) of fish per week had offspring with the best neurodevelopment resulting in greater verbal IQ (Hibbeln et al. 2017).
