I’m starting a series of what I’ve learnt moving and living in 8 different houses (condo and hdbs) growing up 🥲🙃 My cat has been with me for 15 years, and he’s been through 5 houses now. It’s not easy for him moving around, but he’s also gotten pretty used to it now and can adapt to new homes after 1-2 nights with me around.

These are some CHEAPPP pet-proof items I’ve used that are good for temporary use and can ofc be used long-term too!!

🐾 1. Mesh $3.85 - $4.90 per 1m

EASILY zip-tied on gates/ window grilles etc. This is the best cheap option to be able to fully customise the size you want to fit your home!! This is rly rly affordable and doesn’t really compromise the overall aesthetics in the home imo. It comes in black and white and different mesh hole sizes!!

🐾 2. Pet safety gate $19.90

This is the mesh gate I use for my current home - it can be fixed and used as a pet door (it comes with snaps, screws etc) but I use it like a divider for my room. I simply slot it behind a cabinet beside my door when I need to use it, so it’s like a self-made sliding gate hahaha. I love it! My cat knows that it’s something to keep him in/ out from a particular space so he doesn’t even try to jump over. This gate only comes in one size (100x80cm) so measure properly before getting :)

🐾 3. Incontinence pads $7.10 - $19.66

Ever had your furkid vomit on your fabrics when you’re not home or urine marking? Mine vomits his fur balls on my bed because it’s also his sleeping spot! When I go overseas, I usually put this pad on top of his sleeping spots so that it can catch his vomits when no one is watching him. It’s rly absorbent and convenient if your pet has urine marking issues as well. My cat loves sleeping on it, so when I’m out for long hours, this is his temporary best friend. 🫣 It comes in many different sizes, I recommend buying a smaller one if you have specific target spots so it’s easier to wash!
