HOW I MET MY SOULMATE

i’ve met my forever soulmate. and here’s the tea on that:

i wasn’t expecting to meet him when i did. in fact, i wasn’t expecting to meet anyone.

i met him soon after i had declared that i wasn’t going to date. ever again.

two years before i met my current partner, i was in the most toxic/abusive relationship of my life. it was traumatizing, but that wasn’t what made me give up on dating. when that relationship ended, i dated casually on and off. used some dating apps. and it was fun, and a good rebound to help me through my break up, but it wasn’t sustainable in the long run.

so after over a year of dating on and off, i knew i wanted some time to myself. so i stopped. and i quickly realized how much i loved my own company. for the first time in my life, i was really, truly happy being completely alone. i felt fulfilled with my own creative endeavors and my wonderful friendships. i also felt like i’d never meet a romantic partner who complemented me, who added to my personality and didn’t shut me down.

and then i met my current partner when i least expected it. the rest is history.

it’s true that you attract who you are. and you’ll like the people you attract a lot more if you like yourself :)
