have OR hype? pt.2

continuing my fragrance reviews since my first post did so well! this time, we are looking at the gourmand side of things with KAYALI and Nest.

i’ve only ever seen reviews/videos about KAYALI, but never pulled the plug to try any of the fragrances. i *just* so happened to blind buy a travel size version of Vanilla 28, and let me just say this swayed me enough to make it my signature scent…or at least ATTEMPT to 🫠

Vanilla 28 combines my favorites of vanilla orchid, absolute and some creamy jasmine beautifully. however, what BREAKS my heart is that it has little to no lasting power on my body — meanwhile i want my whole body AND my clothes to smell like this at all times! i have scoured subreddits and blogs in efforts to find a dupe of this that has a formulation that lasts longer, and i think the closest i’ve come to finding one is Montale’s Arabian Tonka. i haven’t tried it yet, but it’s definitely on my list.

in efforts to find something work with this fragrance i already love so much, i wanted to find something that would compliment it as a layer. when i tell you i smelled *ALL* of the gourmand perfumes at Sephora, trust me lol. i didn’t think i’d find something that would just simply enhance KAYALI’s profile until i stumbled on Nest’s perfume oils. the second i tried Madagascar Vanilla, i knew this was the one. it does have coconut, but i don’t find it competing with anything else. so what do i do? i *ONLY* dab the perfume oil lightly at pulse and pressure points then spray Vanilla 28 over (3-4 all-over spritz) — what i’m left with is a formula that lasts much longer and lingers(!), which is what i was missing before.

has anyone tried a combo like this before? or anyone try Montale’s Arabian Tonka? what do you think?
