I removed half my IG followers

I recently removed almost half of my followers, and here’s why: I’ve grown tired of having nearly 2,000 followers with little to no engagement. It’s disheartening to pour my energy into creating content, only to get 10-15 likes, or see people skip past my videos after a few seconds.

On top of that, I realized that around 90% of my followers were men who rarely engaged unless I posted a selfie that included my body. They’d watch my stories religiously, but didn’t interact with the content I actually care about sharing. I don’t need or want that kind of attention.

I want my social media to reflect a genuine community, where we can share experiences, connect, and support each other. I decided to unfollow and remove accounts that weren’t contributing to that. There were also a GROSS amount of bot and inactive accounts too that I had to remove.

I know the algorithms are all garbage on almost every platform, but the slim chance you see a mutuals post and don't engage is just annoying. why follow someone if you don't want to interact?

The whole point of social media for me is to build real connections and share my experiences authentically. If you’re here for that, I’m grateful for you. If not, no hard feelings—it’s just time for me to move on and create space for a more supportive community.
