Not feeling it in your glutes on the hip abduction machine?

DON’T DO THIS:

-LEAN BACK

-USE HIP FLEXORS

-NO INTENTION

When leaning back on the machine it does cause the hip flexors to do most of the work and that is not what we want. We want to engage the glutes, and when there is zero intention into working the glutes they definitely won't grow.

DO THIS INSTEAD:

-LEAN FORWARD

-SLOW MOVEMENT

-KEEP CHIN TUCKED

-PAUSE AT END OF ROM

Leaning forward can help engage the glutes, in which the machine is intended for. Slowing any movement down, especially this one will help engage the correct muscles. Tucking your chin just like when you are doing hip thrust will also help engage the glutes. Taking a pause at the end of the range of motion will force your glutes to contract.
