Continuing from my first post on things I regret spending on, this is part 2!

1. Expensive drinks

In my younger days, I would regularly spend on drinks from Koi, Mr Coconut, Starbucks, Gongcha, Boost, Hvala, and so on 🥤

I would spend $100+ on drinks every month 🥲💸 and what for??? Diabetes??? More belly fat???

Now that I’m older, I’ve realised that drinking such expensive drinks regularly is really not worth it 🤡

Unless you’re catching up with a friend at Starbucks or having a rare treat yourself day, there’s no reason to be drinking such drinks almost every single day! 🫣🫣

If you’re really craving something, buy drinks from NTUC or make your own drinks!

Did you know you can make your own matcha too? No more $10 matchas from overpriced places, like Hellu Coffee (no offence!) Matcha is probably the easiest drink to make!!! 🍵

2. Regular eyelash extensions

After having a taste of eyelash extensions in university, I started getting eyelash extensions every month 👁️

Embarrassingly enough, I was addicted to them. I had thought that my eyes looked bald without them. So my younger silly self would shell out $60-$80 every month to get eyelash extensions done 🥺

I continued on for many years, only stopping after about 7 years. Imagine how much money I would have saved, assuming $60 a month, that’s about $5,000 🫠

Damn, I was so deluded into thinking I needed them…. deluded that just because I had money in my bank, that I could afford them. Yes, read that line again if you need to.

If I could turn back time, this is what I would tell myself: Girl, STOP doing eyelash extensions every damn month. Just because you have money in your bank, it doesn’t mean you can afford it!!!!!! Read that again!!!! 😠 You ain’t making bank, you don’t even make $10k, your investments aren’t popping off!!!!!! You can’t afford this!!!!!! It’s just pieces of black plastic that drop out!!!!!! Just buy the $4-5 eyelash pieces from Taobao!!!!! It looks the same!!!!! 💸💸💸

Now that I’m older and had a break in my career, I’ve cut down on unnecessary spendings - my spendings have literally halved.

Yes, I do look prettier with eyelash extensions but there are much much cheaper alternatives like eyelash stripes. $6 for so many eyelashes and it actually works!!!!

3. Regular manicures and pedicures

In my younger days, I also started doing my nails quite regularly… and manicures in Singapore are crazy expensive. Manicures can go up to $120++ for certain designs.

I started out with a coquette design and yes it was sooooo pretty but nails are temporary and will grow out. There’s no reason to be doing manicures every single month for the same reason as above.

If you really must do your nails, do them in Malaysia where it’s much more reasonably priced ($30-$40+).
