BOOK REVIEW: If He Had Been With Me

“If he had been with me, everything would have been different…”

Autumn and Finn used to be inseparable. But then something changed, or they changed. And then one night… everything changed.

My thoughts: I saw this all over booktok. If you’ve seen anything about this book, you’ve seen it described as rip your heart out and stomp on it, gut wrenching.

I can’t say this was the best book, or the worst book, I’ve ever read. The writing fell a little flat for me, in my brain it came off as very monotone. I couldn’t form a connection with the characters as much as i wanted to due to that. It also came off as an older person *trying* to write like a teenager (not liking things because it’s cool to not like things.. teenagers really don’t think like that).

I did try to over look all of that while reading. The book did redeem itself towards the end. And the ending was sad with a twist i didn’t see coming. But it didn’t make me cry and honestly it was because of the lack of connection with the characters.

Anyways, this book gets a 3/5 stars.
