How to survive your significant other being deployed 💔✈️.. *from someone who is going through it now!*

*Theres such a bad rep against military wives!!! LOL So it’s kind of scary for us genuine ones to put ourselves out there & be there for others in the same boat on other platforms! I really feel safe on this platform to be able to finally connect about this🤍 We need each other!

Let’s talk..

It never gets ‘easier’, but you do learn to adapt. A short back story- I’m married to my 8th grade best friend. We had been side by side non stop for yearssss until we graduated & he went to boot camp. Literally, we lived together since we were like 16! (that’s another story) So being apart was a HUGE lifestyle change. & the first few times, I didn’t do great. 🥲

but as time has passed, there are some things I’ve learned that Id love to share with my other milso friends 🤍 & some positives!

My advice:

💌 If you’re unable to communicate, write letters, emails, texts that he’ll see later, ANYTHING. Having an outlet that you know they’ll at least eventually see can make it feel like they’re still close by.

📓 Journal. This can be yourself ranting, writing your thoughts positive & negative then burning them. This gives you a way to LET. IT. OUT. OR write to your SO and give it to them when they get back.

✈️ DAY. BY. DAY. You have to quite literally take the hard times day by day. One day at a time. You can’t look at the big picture, how long they’ll be gone, etc because it’s overwhelming!! 🥲 When you wake up in the morning focus on THAT DAY. Keep yourself busy for THAT DAY. Take it hour by hour if you need. This I remind myself often!! Don’t sit & dread on what you can’t control.

✨ Use this time for YOU. Use this time to truly focus on yourself. Work on yourself in every aspect, set some goals, & better yourself! It’s important in your relationship for you to know who you are as an individual as well. That way when you two are back together, you’ll be even stronger in yourself than before🤍 Maybe start doing yoga! Learn a new recipe? Idk!

⏰ Stay busy. I’m sure you hear this lots. but really!! Make dates with friends, put things on the calendar that you can focus on & look forward to. Fill up your day. Even if it’s ‘yoga in my bedroom at 8 am’, ‘dino shaped sandwhiches for kids at noon’, ‘fancy bath with my favorite bath bombs & a good book’. Do things you enjoy! FIND things you enjoy.

Things I’ve learned:

* You truly learn to value time together. When you spend so much time apart, the times together are even more cherished. because YOU KNOW what it’s like to not be with them. & you don’t take it for granted💞

* Time apart can make us stronger when we’re together. Truly, me & my husband have both grown soo much individually. & when we’re together we get to bring our best selves to the marriage🤍

* YOU. CAN. DO. THIS. 🫶🏼👏🏼

As impossible as it sometimes seems. All hard things come to an end.

Follow along if you’re a military spouse! Let’s connect 💕💕
