5 Tips to be the Best Pawrents

Being a new puppy parent can be so overwhelming so I rounded up the best tips to beat the puppy blues!

1. Routine-Your dog will thrive knowing what to expect. This includes wake and sleep times, feeding schedules, and housebreaking.

2. You will thank yourself later if your puppy can be in their crate without you. Start with small amounts of time, fun crate games, and creating a cozy environment for them. Never use the crate as punishment.

3. Socialize, socialize, socialize- Get your dog used to different sites, smells, people, sounds, car rides, etc before their socialization window ends at 16 weeks to help create a confident dog.

4. Touch- Get your dog comfortable with being touched. Touch their ears, open their mouth, play with their paws, brush them and trim their nails. These kinds of touch will be used throughout their life so it’s important they feel secure with it early on.

5. Insurance-Pets are expensive and emergencies can break the bank, especially with mischievous puppies who haven’t learned the rules yet. It’s more affordable and you typically have better coverage the younger they are!
