Everyone always tells you that you can’t drink a few cocktails here and there and still reach your fitness goals. I am here to tell you that you CAN! It just takes a little pre planning!
One thing to know about alcohol is that it does contain calories. 9 calories per gram of alcohol. When we track alcohol, we can either track it as a carb or as a fat. Liquid calories can be deceiving.
Something to note on calories in alcohol:
1 shot of vodka or tequila is typically 100cal
1 glass of wine is typically 130-150cal
1 can of beer is between 80-100cal
Seltzers are usually 100cal
When drinking while reaching fat loss or fitness goals, we want to keep it in moderation! I give myself a 1 to 2 drink max on a night out, and I pre plan my meals around it. I make sure to front load protein early in the day and leave some carbs for the drinks! I always chose a lower calorie option like a seltzer or tequila and club soda.
Being responsible is always the number one rule with drinking, whether it’s for goals or just in general. I ALWAYS make sure to alternate a cocktail and water. 2 glasses of water per drink. I also make sure to avoid sugary mixers and stick with club sodas or diet soda.
