3 SIMPLE Things to Have for Kids Birthday Party

Throwing a birthday party for your not-so-little one is one of the most exciting parts of becoming a parent. There can feel like there’s a lot to prepare which can easily become overwhelming.

I only have the experience of hosting four birthday parties for my kids, but I have found that having these three simple things can make any overwhelming party seem effortlessly planned.

🪩 CAKE + CUPCAKES 🪩

Whether it’s a smash cake, a sheet cake, or a cupcake pull-apart cake, just get the cake! If you are hosting a large number of guests, I highly recommend getting a cupcake pull-apart cake. They come in unique designs and are super easy to serve to guests!

If you are throwing a first birthday party and are doing a smash cake, be sure to have a second cake or cupcakes to serve to guests as well.

Another popular dessert option is iced cookies designed to fit the theme of the party. These are always sooo yummy, I eat like twelve of them lol.

🪩SIMPLE FOOD🪩

My step mom was generous enough to make the yummiest sandwiches with fresh produce and homemade bread. It’s a simple food that is catered to both adults and children. Another budget friendly option is pizza, or grilling hamburgers and hot dogs!

Add some easy sides to the spread as well, such as pasta salad, a fruit platter, charcuterie boards, buffalo chicken or spinach artichoke dip with chips, meatballs, pigs in a blanket, baked macaroni and cheese, or chicken caesar salad.

🪩GAMES + ACTIVITIES 🪩

We have a bounce house that we only bring out for our kids birthday parties. The kids absolutely love playing on it, but I choose to use it only for special occasions because I like to think it makes them more excited to use it when it’s out lol.

There’s endless options of indoor and outdoor activities and games for kids to play at birthday party’s. Our favorites are pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs, the piñata, charades, and mini obstacle courses!
