studying overseas, is it for you? 📍✈️

hi friends~ this september, i will be pursuing my studies overseas. this has not been an easy decision to make, but i would like to share why i felt that this was the better option for me, and what were the key factors that influenced my decision.

1. independence — i have always been very independent in both my studies and personal life, so being alone is already within my comfort zone. i knew that even if i threw myself into a whole new environment, i would be able to manage my studies and motivate myself to make the most out of my time abroad. i am privileged to have the financial support to fulfill my dreams, and at the end of the day, i know that this big of a lifestyle change would not heavily impact my studies with my independent character, and instead make sure that i do not waste this expensive opportunity that i have been given.

2. expanding my world — being abroad would give me more opportunities to travel, and cheaper access to many parts of the world that would have cost $1000+ to travel there from singapore. this includes many countries, even switzerland, which would only cost $100 or less for a round trip flight. i plan to utilise my free time to travel and expand my horizons as well.

3. space for growth — studying abroad will give me a lot of freedom to explore my interests, reflect on myself, learn to be more independent through adulting, and i can only imagine the expansive list of life lessons i would be able to take away from my experience. the sky’s the limit.

lastly, deep down throughout the whole process of studying and planning for university admissions, i knew that i had to study abroad and it just felt like the right path for my next milestone in life. overall, those were the main factors that influenced my decision, and maybe these will help you consider where to study in the future too! feel free to leave any questions in the comments below~
