Estimated total cost for all ingredients is less than $15. Total may vary depending on the brand, store, location, size, and quantity.

Ingredients:

1 cup of warm milk (about 110ยฐF) ๐Ÿฅ›

2 ยผ tsp of yeast (1 packet) ๐Ÿฅ–

4 tsp of granulated sugar ๐Ÿค

1 egg ๐Ÿฅš

ยผ cup of melted butter (plus extra for topping) ๐Ÿงˆ

1 tsp of salt ๐Ÿง‚

3 cups of all-purpose flour ๐Ÿค

Instructions:

Activate the Yeast:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and 2 tsp sugar. Stir to dissolve and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until the mixture becomes foamy. This indicates that the yeast is activated.

Prepare the Dough:

Add the egg, melted butter, salt, and the remaining sugar to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.

Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Continue to mix until a soft dough forms.

Knead the Dough:

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, but be careful not to add too much.

First Rise:

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Shape the Buns:

Punch down the dough to release the air. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a non-stick baking sheet. Leave enough space between each ball to allow for rising.

Second Rise:

Cover the baking dish with a towel and place on top of the oven while it preheats to 350. Let them sit there for about 30 minutes, or until they get nice and puffy.

Bake The Buns:

Bake for 16-18 minutes or until golden brown on top. Brush them with melted butter and top with sesame seeds (optional), while theyโ€™re still warm. Let the buns cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
