things you should know about INFLUENCER MANAGEMENT

before starting my journey, I often thought, “wow, I get to talk to influencers!” or “this will come naturally to me since I'm always on social media.” But there’s much more to this role… here are the top things I wish I knew before diving into influencer management! 🧸

1. Communication is truly the KEY

This role requires A LOT of communication, both with influencers and clients. It is crucial to convey the right information to both parties & to provide precise instructions to influencers (e.g. updates on campaign progress, what to expect in the next step etc.) It takes only ONE miscommunication to lead to distrust :/

2. Being detail-oriented & organised is VERY important

This role often involves working with a large number of influencers — sometimes over 50 for a single campaign 🥲 Organizational skills are essential to keep everything in order, from correctly labeling video drafts to updating approval decks with accurate information.

You’ll also need to carefully vet video drafts, catching even the smallest errors, such as subtitle placement, font color, sizing, lack of key components from the campaign briefs and more.

3. PATIENCE ‼️ - you will NEED this

If there was something that was truly tested in my role, it was my patience. I have been ghosted so many times by the influencers I managed. I’ve had to send reminders or follow-up texts every hour due to unresponsiveness. To top that off, I have even dealt with some who ghosted me after receiving PR kits that are worth quite a sum. With that said, I believe the importance of patience is rather self-explanatory 😝

4. Stay adaptable & flexible

Many influencers could also be working 9-5 jobs meaning they will only be available after your work hours so you would have to respond to them after work (depending on urgency).

Sometimes, there may also be sudden changes to campaign timelines and your work could get even busier so it is important to stay adaptable and honestly just EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

I don’t want to make this too long-winded so I’ll stop here, but to end off, this job wasn’t all bad, it can just get quite tedious & draining. I hope this helps to give a better understanding 🤍
