im gonna share with yall 4 secrets on how i maintained a healthy relationship with my boyfriend for 8 years. yes 8 and still counting 🫣 we started dating since high school and we're still together through uni and i'm starting my job soon!

so how did we stay together for these long years? i get this question a lot on my IG whenever i do a NGL session haha so here's 4 secrets from me!

1️⃣ respect goes both ways

you both need to respect each other's time, opinions, thoughts, decisions and whatsoever that needs to be respected. it cannot be a one-sided respect since you both are working on the relationship together. my boyfriend and i had a couple of phases where we couldnt understand each other, but we learned and understood together that certain things were needed to done with a justified reason.

2️⃣ never stop flirting with other!

u heard that right. if thats how yall started, then it should be maintained throughout your relationship! we often compliment each other, tease each other whenever there's a chance. we'd never let the moments so boring and dull! 😋

3️⃣ understand each other's love languages

mine is act of service while his is quality time. he would enjoy every moment he has with me, virtually or physically even for a short moment. while i appreciate every gesture he does for (eg he's opening up the shrimp shell for me hehe 💘)

4️⃣ set your boudaries but dont ever be controlling

saying no at the correct moments is important for your relationship. you dont want it to be toxic but at the same time, you want it to be safe. especially for girls, you need to hold on to your dignity and know what right and wrong. always remember not to let yourself to be taken for granted and be firm with your opinion. that way, your partner will be secure with you and you can be confident and trust your partner with all your heart!
