Those postpartum days where you’re adjusting to a new human who is adjusting to a new world and everyone is adjusting to a new normal and new routine is HARD. Arguably one of the things that I found the hardest about that postpartum stage with a newborn, no matter what number kid I’m on: feeding myself properly.

See, I love to cook. We cook dinner at home almost every night and I thoroughly enjoy making meals from scratch. Until I have a baby. And then juggling the feedings, the cries, the diaper changes, the older siblings, it all just feels like too much. But the problem with that, is I often end up not taking as good of care of myself because I snack instead of doing full meals and that usually means eating a lot of junk.

Over the years, after a few pregnancies, I’ve found a couple of really great snack options that are tasty, filled with protein and going to help keep you satiated while you juggle all the new chaos.

My favorite, one-handed friendly, postpartum snack go to’s are:

1. Koia protein drinks- these are plant based and come in quite a few different flavors. This cinnamon horchata is my personal fav.

2. Chomps beef sticks- another one with different flavor and protein-base options AND you can find these at Costco which means there’s a lot in a pack and you can stock up on snacks for you while you stock up on those diapers for baby bean.

3. The perfect bar- another Costco find, this is a tasty protein bar and an easy go to when you need something but don’t have the hands to go all out.

4. Yogurt with granola, hemp and chia seeds. By far one of my favorites- we get a big tub of this Greek yogurt in the honey vanilla flavor, vanilla almond granola from the store and then add in a tablespoon of chia seeds and hemp seeds for even more protein added in.

Have you had any of these? What’s your favorite one-handed friendly snack?
