Visiting Trakai castle in Lithuania! A must!

Okay, this is another MUST in Lithuania!! Visiting Trakai castle - one of 3 major castles in Lithuania, and the most complete one!

The entrance fee was 12 euros, which wasn’t bad, and you’re allowed to freely walk around the castle. The white walls are the original and red walls are the restored part, so you can see what the castle looked like in its glory.

The castle was started in the 14th century and finished by 1409 - because the castle was never attacked (it’s on an ISLAND!), it’s never fallen! People actually started taking it apart to use the stones to build their homes.

The island itself was gorgeous (you can also take a boat ride around the islands!) - the rooms were so cool to see, and turned into a museum.

The drawbridge was my personal favorite because it was impressive 😁

Just be super careful - the stairs are steep and slippery and I did not wear appropriate shoes. I slipped down the stairs and bruised my wrist 🫠

It’s open from 10 am to 7 pm, but last entrance is before 6 pm so plan accordingly.

Still - a definite must when visiting Lithuania!
