Italian Eats in Queens

Sac’s Place is an Italian restaurant in Astoria, Queens, that specializes in coal oven pizza and homemade pasta dishes. I had the chance to try their classic pizza, white pizza, and peaches and ice cream dessert, and I was very impressed by the quality and flavor of their food.

🍕 Classic Pizza $12.95 was a thin crust pie topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil. The sauce was tangy and rich, made with San Marzano tomatoes from Italy. The cheese was melted and stretchy, adding a creamy contrast to the sauce. The crust was a little underdone, but still a solid pie 7/10.

🍕 White Pizza $12.95 was a different but equally delicious experience. It had no tomato sauce, but instead a layer of ricotta cheese mixed with olive oil, garlic, and herbs. The ricotta was creamy and flavorful, with a hint of garlic and oregano. The pizza was also topped with thin slices of fresh mozzarella and grated pecorino cheese, creating a cheesy and decadent topping. The white pizza was rich and indulgent, but not too heavy 8/10.

🍑 Peaches and Ice Cream $9.95 was a perfect way to end the meal. It consisted of fresh peach slices cooked in butter and brown sugar. The peaches were tender and sweet, with a caramelized flavor. They were served with vanilla ice cream, which added a cold and smooth contrast to the warm and juicy peaches 8/10.

Sac’s Place has both indoor seating with a full Italian menu as well as an outdoor pizza garden. Reservations aren’t needed for either. Food rating 8/10.
