Greek Eats in Greenwich Village

Pappas NYC features traditional Greek dishes with a modern twist. The restaurant had two bars, live music, and belly dancers. I visited early evening so the entertainment hadn’t started while I was there, so I recommend going later in the evening, after 8 pm.

The Crudo Sampler $59 consisted of three different types of raw fish, each with its own toppings and sauces. The fish was fresh, tender, and delicious, and the sauces added a nice contrast of flavors. My favorite was the salmon, as it was the most flavorful. This is a great diet-friendly dish that’s high in protein and low-carb 7/10.

The Lamb Youvetsi $49 is a hearty and comforting stew of lamb and orzo pasta, cooked in a tomato sauce with garlic, oregano, and spices. My first visit to Pappas the lamb was so good, that it made me revisit and order it again. Sadly it was different and pretty bland. The orzo in contrast with the tangy Greek yogurt was the best part, but not worthy to order again 4/10.

Pappas is a huge space and they have a lot of special events. If you are looking for a place with a party, this is for you. Food rating 5/10.
