My makeup journey: How did I improvise my makeup?

📚During diploma

Back to the earlier days during my diploma studies, I wasnt really fond of makeup and I didnt even like to put on skincare. I hated something that is on my face because I was easily uncomfortable by that.

😷Covid entered

But when covid arrived and that everyone was on social media, my sister started to introduce me with makeup. I started with lipsticks and foundation. Kinda had a breakdown back then because everytime I tried and error, all of the shades weren’t suitable for me :’(

📝Where and how did I learn

During that time I consumed a lot of knowledge of makeup from Lemon8, Tiktok and Instagram to understand more of makeup. I learned contouring, discovered good makeup products and even watched few tutorials on social media. My biggest inspiration is Sofeashra and Nuin Azahari. Their makeup are always top notch!

📑Entering degree

And when I entered degree, I have a friend who is also good at makeup, she taught me a lot of new things and I was so inspired by how good she is. My friend was the biggest kickstart for me to improve more and more on my makeup.

💄Favourite makeup look era

There was at some point I did this one makeup and everyone praised me! Never thought that it would look really good. I wanted to remake the makeup the next few days but it’s always hard to remake something very very good :’(

🧴From foundation to high coverage powder

As time passed by, I felt like I struggled a lot, consumed a lot of time and my makeup felt a bit heavy on my face. So I stopped using foundation and only used concealer and high coverage powder like Maybelline, Sace Lady and O.Two.O to cover up my face. Little did I know the finishing is the same as putting on foundation! Im so happy that I discovered this so that I can save my money and time. My biggest solution is also to put on this holy grail setting powder by Catrice! Plus, my smiling crack and lines arent too obvious to be compared with wearing foundation before.

👯‍♀️My friends’ comments

My friends were really helpful big time. Their comments are super helpful and I really need to hear it to help improvise my makeup look! I have this one friend complimenting my light natural makeup so starting from that on, I put on that makeup because it feels very very light on me and that I feel much more comfortable to go everywhere. I realized my makeup technique was wrong and that was why it felt uncomfortable (cakey, cracking smile line, looks ashy, not blended well etc).

But to conclude, I still need a lot of things to understand my own makeup and makeup techniques so that I can keep on improvising day by day. It takes a lot of time but im so happy that I got to be here now. Learning and understanding makeup is fun! Makeup is like a fun game for you to express yourself :3
