In this post I’ll be sharing with you simple effective ways to start cutting out processed sugars from your eating habits. This is NO WAY a guide to restrict and constrict yourself because I don’t believe restricting your food intake is in any way healthy to your mind and body! This is simply a guide to have BETTER eating habits for YOUR health.

🍝 Reduce Eating Out

Eating out costs A LOT and is really the main factor to our unhealthy eating habits. The portion size, the intake and the ingredients are completely out of your control thus making it really hard to grasp what is really in your meal. Slowly try to reduce eating out and I think you’ll see a big difference in your eating habits!

🛍️ Cook more at home

Nothing better than a home cooked meal! With at home meals, not only do you save a ton but you’re in control of your meal. Whether to add sugar, more spices, less salt, it’s all dependent on you so trust that if you cook more at home, surely you’ll be able to cut out a lot of your unhealthy eating habits.

✨ Bring your own water bottle:

I know I talk about this a lot but bringing my own water bottle everywhere has really changed my lifestyle in a few ways. Rather than having an iced chocolate or a milkshake, I’d rather just drink from my own bottle of water. You’re cutting out these sugars, saving a ton (because we know those drinks are expensive!!) and along the way will develop the preference of water to other drinks!

🍎 Remove the apps:

Removing the food delivery services apps from my main screen has surprisingly helped quite a lot. It’s like they say, out of sight = out of mind. If you don’t see these apps, you most likely won’t be rummaging on the app trying to order out.

🍫 Don’t go cold turkey:

Similar to any other habit change or change in lifestyle, you can never really go cold turkey. Stopping completely is simply not sustainable and along the way you’ll probably fall back to your old habits and then the cycle will repeat and you’ll beat yourself up for it because you think you’re a failure. Well, you’re not. Even taking a small step to change is good enough. Gradually incorporate these habits and it’ll be much more sustainable and attainable! Just because you had a couple of meals outside or indulged in a few sweet treats does not mean you’re a failure.

Entirely, give yourself compassion when attempting to change. Change is good but it is not easy. Try to reframe your mindset to doing it for your health instead of trying to look good or be a certain size. Health is wealth and as cliche as it sounds, it is true. Small steps are still steps to a greater goal so remember to be kind to yourself always.
