What I Wore to KLFW 2022 + HOW YOU CAN GET INVITED

KLFW returns! For this year I attended Afiq M’s show, supporting their Spring Summer 2023 Collection. When I received the invitation from Afiq M, I immediately thought of wearing the same aesthetics with Afiq M’s creations. He is known for creating Ready-to-Wear pieces that are bold yet minimal designs.

#HOW TO GET AN INVITE FOR KLFW?

Networking plays an important role in getting an invite. Make close connections with the potential people that are in charge of handling invites. You can also communicate with the local designers that you adore via social media by talking and complementing them about their work and designs. Reply to their IG stories, get to know their brand better and support them! As locals, we need to support their business to help them grow internationally.

Social media has an ultimate power to engagements. Besides networking, you can start your own blog, a Tiktok account or create a Youtube channel talking about the fashion industry in Malaysia. Promote local brands and give fashion tips for your audience in a creative way. In this way, the designer or brand itself will notice you and who knows if they are happy with your content and will be able to give you an invite from there?

#WHAT I WORE?

I decided to wear a pleats on pleats look (a last minute look that I curated) to the show. Serving you an all black look, with patterns and volume details, and a touch of diamond. The pleated blouse that I wore has a slit and balloon shape details on the sleeves which I adore so much 😍 Matched with a wrap over pleated skirt. For accessories, I wore a quilted bag (yes, I’m playing with patterns that night), diamond earrings and a silk black scarf to give it a fancy touch. Lastly, a pair of black leather boots to complete this all black look. 🖤

#EXPERIENCE

The collection is all and all amazing. Afiq pays a lot of attention to details. From the cutouts on the cropped blazer/shirt, skirt with mini pockets for a matching vest set, and a half blazer half strap dress. Making some of the unique and eye-catching pieces for women who are bold yet classy! ✨

Overall experience for KLFW this year was fun and I got to meet a lot of fashion icons because for the last two years of the pandemic we weren’t able to meet more people due to the SOP. It’s fun to see everyone dress up, pose for pics and mingle around. However, KLFW maybe can try to improve their counter service before we get inside. The queue to register was so long and I’m sure there is another way to make the registration process fast and smoothly. Can’t wait for next year’s KLFW!
