ROAD TRIP

It took 3 days to drive by myself, and I spent less than $200 on diesel. This was a test for my Jetta, and it went great! Highway fuel economy was between 43 mpg and occasionally 47 mpg. I bought 63 gallons of fuel, this includes my excursion.

I hit about 10 hours of traffic total, bringing my total drive time to 33 hours. Stopping at Cracker Barrel’s to sleep is always a great way to stay safe!

I will say, last year I drove my 30 year old Tahoe down, and I spent about $850 of fuel. Leading me to budget much more for my car.

The downside of the smaller vehicle was definitely comfort, the Tahoe is much nicer to sleep in, it was very easy for me to change my clothes and even make food. This time I took only one excursion from my path and this was mostly due to discomfort.

The Tahoe was also extremely tinted, and my Jetta has no tint anywhere. I had curtains but it was not enough to make me feel comfortable. The Jetta also made it look like a was a girl traveling alone, while the Tahoe could have been anyone.

Overall, the fuel economy makes the cons of the Jetta worth it!
