After a whirlwind year in 2020 me and a longtime bestie opened up an online boutique. We are both moms to young kids so working from home and making extra money was ideal. I have a background in fashion styling so this was totally up my alley! We got our business license, wholesale license , started a website and : HAZELUST.com was born.

Launch day was a huge success and we had friends and family show tons of support. We were so excited!

But now, nearly 3 years later a lot of life has changed and I’m going to be #reallife with you; it’s not doing so great anymore! Here’s why:

•BABIES. My business partner and I each had more kids; and it threw off our momentum by us getting pregnant back to back + newborn life

• COMPETITION. there’s a TONNNNNN of competition right now. We started early but man there are million small boutiques these days, but they seem to have more time and money and resources to be successful (props to them!)

• INFLATION. We used to be able to buy items for a reasonable price and resell accordingly but now we’re buying items for almost $25 and then have to sell it for like $75 by trying to make a profit (and split between us) it’s so hard when you’re competing with #shein !!

• RECESSION. People are just not spending like they were , and we feel the effects

We had an amazing photoshoot lately, redid the website, are being consistent on all social media,

Maybe this is time to work harder? Not sure what direction to go in but it’s been difficult to navigate.
