Tacking Down a Cowboy Hat

Back in my barrel racing days I learned this little trick on how to keep your hat on your head on a run. Now, I will tell you that this isn’t comfortable and I’m sure there are better ways out there, but it’s what I’ve alway done and still use today when the wind is blowing and I don’t want to worry about my hat blowing away.

You’re going to need:

• Cowboy Hat

• 2-3 bobby-pins

• Your noggin

Put in your hat like you normally would. Then you’re going to feel where the inside band has some room on the side. This is where you’re going to put your bobby-pins. There will be slight spaces between stitches, this is where you want. If you can, try and put the flat part of the bobby-pin where it’ll lay flat against your head. Otherwise it’ll poke into your head and you’ll get a migraine. I usually only need 2 pins, one on either side, but if it’s really windy… probably on the days I have no business wearing a hat anyway but it is what it is… I will put one in the back just for extra hold.
