Many of us have enjoyed a make up free life over the last few months and the thoughts of having to break out the make up bag again may leave some feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Nose contouring is the use of a cool tone pigment to shape and alter the appearance of the natural shadows on the nose. Nose contour products come in liquid, cream, and powder finishes. Product can be placed on various areas of the nose in order to achieve a specific look such as a “button” nose, a slimmer nose, or to disguise a bump.

There are lots of crazy contouring tutorials out there, but if marking up your face like an art project doesn’t appeal to you, don’t fret—you can still get a sculpted look with a more natural, real-life finish. One of the trickiest features to get right? The nose. Go too far, and it can look like you tried to contour your nose, which is the opposite of what you’re going for. There is no one-size-fits-all technique since it depends on the shape of your nose and what your desired result is, but there are a few general tips you can keep in mind. To help us avoid joining the ranks of contour casualties, we asked celebrity makeup artists to show us exactly how it’s done.

If you can’t keep the line straight when drawing in the contoured line for the nose, this hack is for you. (And for myself.) The nose trick has been around for quite some time, but leave it to the vending machine app of the latest and greatest beauty trends to resurface it with new additions. TikTok has gone a step further and is applying the total base of foundation, bronzer, blush and highlighter with a fork as the applicator. Granted, we’ve just learned the better way to snatch our faces, applying contour underneath the jaw for more definition. It would be great to see how that technique plays out with a fork.

The make up artist uses a fork to perfect your contouring when doing your make up.

place the four prongs of the fork on your nose as the first step. Using a thin brush used the darker contour colour between the gap of the outer prongs which meant the lines were straight and equal in length.  Next used a lighter contour colour and filled in the middle gap of the fork so it ran down straight along the middle of your nose.
