Waffles & Icecream in the North East 🦄

Who says the north east is boring 😤😤 Recently, I have discovered many dessert spots around the area and am super happy!!! Waffles + ice cream are my go-to desserts, and would always pull my friends to the area 😋😋

I know that there are many more, but these are the cafes I always frequent!

Have been loving fatcat so i was so happy to find out that they opened an outlet in Kovan — near me! I found their ice cream flavours to be quite normal, but what stood out to me was the mini waffles!!! Bitesized, easy to eat 🤤 Note that the Kovan outlet is a takeaway concept so no dine-ins!

🍦THE HUMBLE SCOOP

I love how most of their ice cream flavours are locally-inspired!!! My fav has got to be the muahchee flavour, with little chunks of peanut & mochi in it. They also carry other flavours such as ribena ripple, attap chee, kopi-c siew dai & black sesame paste, to name a few! It’s also a takeaway concept, but you can just chill around the benches in Stars of Kovan ⭐️

🍦THE BETTER SCOOP

This cafe is famous for their nian gao waffles and I could see why!!! They also had interesting ice cream flavours and I took so long to decide on one! In the end I chose jasmine green milk tea and was so shocked that it tasted exactly like my bubble tea orders, except that it was in an icecream form! The niangao was also nicely spread out across the waffle, and each bite had a nice chewy texture

Pretty sure this cafe needs no introduction, i know of friends who travel from far just to come to the north east for this cafe! I have frequented this cafe since secondary school, and my all time favourites are:

- dark choc ice cream

- oolong lavender ice cream

- pistachio ice cream

- truffle fries (MUST GET!!!)

- tater tots
