Obtained my Class 3A via BBDC and passed in the 1st attempt!
💰 Cost: ~ 2500SGD
🚙 Practical classes: 22 (exclude any revision classes)
👍BBDC: I have got a good team of instructors throughout the journey (everyone has a fixed group of instructors assigned, but usually the instructors aren’t from the fixed group if you attend “try-sell slot”. I did take almost half of my classes via try-sell slots. I would say the fixed group ones are the best (they are stricter (in my opinion)). However, the instructors are still professional and friendly!).
Timeline:
End of Nov: Signed up for the course
Jan: Passed BTT. Pre-reg the practical classes upon passing BTT - 18 classes in one go (not sure about the maximum number of classes could be booked)
End of Mar: Started taking practical classes
Apr and May: FTT - Failed evaluation and retook evaluation twice, passed FTT
End of May: Finished all the practical classes (compulsory ones excluding the revision classes) and signed up for PT scheduled end of June
June: Took number of revision classes and passed PT!
Things to note:
1. For theory tests, I have bought the booklets published by Mighty Minds (just buy on Carousell to save some cost!)
- BTT: Just read the booklet and I highly recommend you to keep practicing on https://www.basictheorytestsg.com/ and via the app - TP Test. I did not take any practice sessions for BTT at BBDC.
- FTT: Highly recommend to register for the FTT practice at BBDC so as to familiarise with the questions. I personally feel like the questions are somehow different from the website / app.
2. Complete all the simulations and any other classes (non practical lessons) asap when you are eligible to register. Sometimes you have to wait for a week or 2 for the next available slot.
3. Practical test:
- Focus more on improving at circuit because it requires you to complete ~ 9 moves, such as S Course, Parking, Directional Change. There are lots of short lane changes and sharp bends as well. You must pass the circuit part before going out to the test route.
- Jot note on what you have to be aware of / have to improve / have been taught after each class
- Write down the procedures of certain tasks, e.g. parallel parking (lots of steps have to be done)
- Remember the “number” and their locations before the test so you will not miss the opportunity to change lane / turn
- Book more revision classes beforehand, they are cancellable / will be refunded if you pass your test anyways. I feel like my last revision class gave me confidence to complete the test the next day
- Don’t be nervous and pls be relaxed, being nervous really made myself drive way worse than normal
