Right adjacent to the famous East Coast Road is yet another famous food street, otherwise known as Joo Chiat Road. I previously covered a compilation of cafe recommendations along East Coast Road, so I’m back with another 3 cafe recommendations along Joo Chiat Road to fill up your unending bucket list 🤩

📍 Petit Pain

315 Joo Chiat Rd, Singapore 427566

Easties will be familiar with this bakery run by a lovely couple for their whopping crowd and delicious bakes! Expect to find snaking queues up to 30 minutes before the new batch of bakes are stacked up on their displays at different hours. They are famous for their crispy, fluffy and buttery croissants, but I sadly have yet to try them because I haven’t been able to beat the crowd just yet. However, on my last visit, I managed to try their apple danish pastry and gosh, it was one of the best I have tried 🥹 I loved the mix of red and green apple filling for a balanced touch of sweet and sour. The pastry itself was delicious too and a great complement to the generous apple filling.

If you are looking for cafe sandwiches, Hello Arigato is one of the more well-known cafes serving up Japanese sandos with local and international inspired flavours! They currently have 3 outlets at Joo Chiat, Upper Thomson and Everton Park (new!), but one of the sandos featured in this post is a Joo Chiat outlet exclusive! The HCG (har cheong gai) sando takes a spin on our local tzechar favourite dish, prawn paste chicken, which I thought was quite a successful attempt. The refreshing cucumber slices and mayonnaise helped to balance out the flavours quite neatly overall. The other sando is the all-time favourite sweet tamago sando, which will be heaven for egg lovers 🍳

📍Nimbus

A relatively new cafe in the hood is Nimbus, serving up coffee and brunch options. The space itself may not be the biggest, but they have been receiving a sizeable crowd when I visited with my guy! What honestly caught my eye first was the Oatside display at the bar counter HAHA because I am a big fan of Oatside milk! That aside, I tried 2 cups of coffee, iced black and iced white, on my last visit. My memory is rather hazy about the taste profile of the coffee, but I do remember it being quite a cosy spot to just chill out if you’re looking to find a cafe to unwind 🍃
