Trying ballet as an adult 🩰

I was doing pilates the other day and the topic of ballet came up. Realised there was quite a bit of overlap between pilates and ballet (both focuses on alignment, balance, stability), and some pilates moves resemble ballet moves (arabesque, pilates V etc).

Decided to sign up for some ballet trials! MA ballet offers a free ballet trial on their website. Their studio is located at Far East Shopping Centre (Orchard area) and has nice views of the surrounding! Very pretty and aesthetic studio 🌸

I wore a long sleeve fitted top + leggings and socks for the trial lesson and bunned up my hair. Other people in the class were wearing leotards and ballet shoes.

Was initially quite nervous but the class was manageable! It helped that I watched some youtube videos beforehand (on the ballet feet positions and some basic terminologies). The teacher was really nice and demoed each movement beforehand. She talked about the posture and arm lines, and went around correcting people in the class. I was also somewhat in the middle so I could observe the more experienced students and copy them 😂. We did lots of legwork with the barre before doing some moves without the barre and then class ended! My legs were a little sore afterwards because a lot of the moves were in the turnout position (hip externally rotated), but it was all in all a very fun class ❤️

The prices for their packages on the website shows 4 trial lessons for $180, 1 drop in class for $45, 5 for $200, 15 for $555, or 30 for $1080.
