Recipe: Charbroiled Oysters Two Ways

Ingredients:

For both recipes:

• 12 fresh oysters (Whole Foods offers 12 for $12 every Friday!)

• Lemon wedges

• Cocktail sauce

• Hot sauce

Crab Stuffed with Garlic Parmesan Sauce:

• 1/2 cup crab meat

• 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

• 1/4 cup heavy cream

• 2 cloves garlic, minced

• 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

• Salt and pepper to taste

Garlic, Ginger Shallot Butter Sauce:

• 4 tbsp unsalted butter

• 2 cloves garlic, minced

• 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced

• 2 shallots, finely chopped

• 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

• Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Prep the Oysters:

• Shuck the oysters and place them on a bed of crushed ice to keep them cool.

2. Crab Stuffed Oysters:

• In a bowl, combine crab meat, Parmesan cheese, heavy cream, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper.

• Spoon the mixture onto each oyster.

• Broil in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until the topping is golden and bubbly.

3. Garlic, Ginger Shallot Butter Oysters:

• In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

• Add the minced garlic, ginger, and shallots. Sauté until fragrant and softened.

• Stir in the chopped parsley, salt, and pepper.

• Spoon the sauce over each oyster.

• Broil in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until the edges of the oysters start to curl.

4. Serve and Enjoy:

• Arrange the oysters on a platter with lemon wedges, cocktail sauce, and hot sauce on the side.
