Parmesan Cheese Sauce Recipe 💕

Ingredients:

- 2 tablespoons butter

- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

- 1 cup milk (whole or 2% recommended)

- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions:

1. **Melt the Butter:** In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

2. **Add Flour:** Add the flour to the melted butter, stirring constantly. Cook for about 1 minute until the mixture is slightly golden and bubbly. This is your roux, which will help thicken the sauce.

3. **Incorporate Milk:** Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring that no lumps form. Continue to cook and stir until the sauce thickens and begins to bubble gently. This should take about 4-5 minutes.

4. **Add Cheese and Seasonings:** Lower the heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic powder if using. Continue to stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.

5. **Adjust Consistency:** If the sauce is too thick, you can thin it with a little more milk. If it's too thin, let it simmer for a few more minutes, or add more cheese to thicken it.

6. **Serve:** Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary, then serve the sauce immediately over your desired dish.

This sauce is best used immediately while it's warm and smooth.
