it costs ~$600 a month to look pretty? 😮‍💨

I was walking at an MRT station after work when I saw a #CorporateGirlie looking all dolled up and elegant, and I thought to myself: what would it cost for me to look as nice as her daily?

she had nicely permed hair, eyelash extensions, mani and pedi done, a luxury bag on her shoulder, and nice makeup + skin condition.

then there's potato 🥔 me with specs, no makeup, frizzy hair, normal nails because my job is not client-facing, and I do not doll up at all when I go to work.

I added the cost of:

- skincare and

- makeup I'm using (yours could be more or less)

(for simplicity sake - I assume all of this could last a year)

- beauty treatments/things I could do to doll myself up

- and a-mid range luxury bag. (assuming it lasts 3 years if you use it every day before it has a scratch or crumbles due to wear and tear)

❗️❗️THE TOTAL COST: $583 PER MONTH!!! ❗️❗️

exclusions:

i did not include heels or the clothes she was wearing - as I wanted to make a comparison between looking nicer vs looking normal. I'm sure some girls also spend money on fitness classes e.g. spin to look their best, but some guys go to the gym as well. hence, I did not include that cost.

guys also usually don't have to worry about these expenses. hence, I wanted to make this informative for them

conclusion:

everyone's talking about the best beauty products to use, what makeup to get, what bag to look chic. after putting the cost together, it makes me glad I'm working in software engineering 😭 hence I do not have to doll up everyday!

I've only discussed the costs to know how much I save by not dolling up. but to be honest, when I DO doll up and look nice when out on dates, the confidence I have is unbeatable. if dolling up makes one confident, you do you, CONFIDENCE IS PRICELESS 💯💅🏻
