I TRIED RAW CRAB IN SEOUL SO YOU DONT HAVE TO 🦀

Otherwise known as ganjang gejang in south korea, it is the most intriguing dish which is highly loved by korean. The raw crab comes in many other flavours but commonly with soy sauce or yangnyeom sauce which is slightly spicy. I got a chance to head to a michelin star restaurant which specialises in selling raw crab, and here is my review on it!

Their prices for the raw crab set ranges month to month based on the market price. The price that I paid for my raw crab set was at 38,000 which is an estimate of $42 sgd. Personally I thought it was rather on the expensive side but I guess after all it is a michelin star place, so do be prepared.

My verdict; I ordered the soy sauce raw marinated crab set which comes with the side dishes, rice, soup and the crab. The portion was just nice for 1 person and definitely not enough if you are planning to share. The texture of the crab itself is very jelly like and slimy (slightly similar to jellyfish?). The crab itself also came with a lot of roe for those who love it. After taking the crab meat off using the gloves provided, we added to the rice and ate it together. My thoughts on this meal was rating it a 6/10. The crab itself was okay and the sauce was tasty but personally I was not a fan of the jelly like texture, and would definitely prefer the cooked version!

Hence if you are someone who loves raw & seafood items - I think you can attempt to try this but for my friends who aren’t as open to raw items, you can opt for other cooked items available on the menu!!

If you are planning to head down to the restaurant, please remember to make a reservation beforehand as it is often full house and really difficult for you to get a seat if you plan to walk in. You’d have to make a deposit upon reservation, so do note that your timing and date has to be accurate!!
