how to remain friends even after travelling 💅🏻

As we transit to #adulting, there’s more frequent travels with friends (yay) 🌻 But this also comes with problems, where I’ve heard many drama about friend groups falling apart after travelling together…… BUT that’s avoidable! From my personal experience, here’s some tips on how to preserve your friendship when travelling:

1. COMMUNICATE ON BUDGET: Can’t emphasise how important it is to get on the same page budget-wise. While we always look out for value-for-money items, my friends and I are generally willing on spend on nice, comfortable accomodations & activities — so know your friend’s mindset towards budgeting before travelling together. We also don’t usually set a daily budget but I know some people do so it’s best to clear this before y’all plan a trip 🥹🤍

2. PLAN TOGETHER: What we usually do is to research individually on the list our must-go attractions and food, before regrouping and deciding which ones to confirm. Instead of just leaving the planning to one person, this ensures there is something on the iternary for everybody.

3. COMPROMISE: This applies before and during the trip. There are some people that prefers chilling > intense activities, vice versa. So communicate on this beforehand and make sure there’s a balance. It also helps not to be overly alpha on the trip. 🙇🏻‍♀️ While it is good to voice out your opinions, try to understand where the others are coming from too! It is OK to give in. Live laugh love.

4. SHORT TRIPS FIRST: If this is your first time travelling with that group of friend, it may be better to plan a short getaway before progressing to long haul trips. Just to understand a little more about each other’s living habits. 😴

🗣️ Bottom line: Communication is key.

Fun fact: During our Korea trip, my friend group even allocated roles (informally la lol) HAHAHA - translator, accountant, photographer and last one I think logistics (like keeping the room keys etc.) This damn joke and ofc there’s some overlaps here and there, but ok it worked for us 🤣
