hello or goodbye?

hello, arigato 😙

known for their sandos, pasta and japanese flavours, hello arigato has gained quite the traction in the cafe hopping scene. with some mixed reviews, here’s my take on what’s worth your time!

🍎 the chicken katsu sando

featuring chicken katsu, homemade tonkatsu sauce, pickled apples, and slaw, sandwiched between japanese milk bread. the main attraction, which is the chicken katsu, was super juicy, though i think it could afford to be a little thicker. i really like the homemade tonkatsu sauce though - it felt lighter than the bulldog tonkatsu sauce. am down for anything pickled too, so the pickled apples get my vote. the bread was the right thickness, lightly toasted on the outside & not scrape the roof of your mouth toasted! overall this gets a 7 to 7.5/10 from me - nothing mind blowing, but done well enough.

bread - soft yet perfectly toasted as it was, crispy katsu, tangy slaw etc etc. what really did it for me was how well the textures went together: it was crispy yet soft and slightly creamy, and the flavours too: perfectly balanced. loved this, i rate this a 8.5/10!

other classics include the tamago sando and tater tots (not pictured here). let me know what else i should try!
