My mental health surfaces in many different ways in my physical body.

It’s something I’ve started to notice as I got older — which explains a lot of why I was consistently on the toilet before Chinese tuition. Chinese = anxiety-inducing. 😅

I am a strong believer in the gut-brain axis and that everything in the body is connected.

Here are a few of my favourite things I do, that work for me 🫶

• Skipping the caffeine.

Been really into turmeric latte recently. My go to for this fix is mother dough and it’s slowly becoming my weekly stopover. I used to get hvala but stopped ever since they closed their beach rd outlet. Love how the ginger and black pepper feel warm and cozy on my insides.

Lucky for me, I also genuinely enjoy decaf beans.

• Time at home.

So grateful and blessed to be sharing a home with a fellow homebody. Our life, our boundaries. Staying home to recharge on the weekends is one of my favourite things to do for my mental health 🙏🏻

• Calm nature walks.

The biggest thing that improved my relationship with my partner this year was our weekly long walks in nature. Firstly, it encourages us to be present with each other. Being in nature is also great for the mind. Something cleansing about it.

• Strength training.

This may not be for everyone but strength training puts me in a meditative headspace. I’ve kinda always been the “path of least resistance” person growing up. Strength training helps me challenge myself in a healthy way.

There will always be those tougher days. I hope you have a support system and find the strength to show yourself compassion on those days. 😌
