Everything we ate in JB (& not just cafes)🥟🍜🥐✨🍓

Went on a recent day-trip to JB w my dad, who goes to JB every other weekend to run grocery errands, and makan.

Loved our little day out of him bringing us to his favourite local spots for bfast & lunch.

1. Gui Yuan Restaurant

An affordable dimsum breakfast spot, that opens real early! For those like us that prefer to go in at 6am to avoid the traffic. Old school no frills kinda vibes here. You can even catch a glimpse of the sunrise - it was beautiful that morning.

2. Re: Patisserie

This place serves up well-thought-out tarts and pastries.The tarts we tried were very balanced, with the flavours coming through as per what the tart’s names indicated. (E.g. raspberry and macadamia choux tart, with actual macadamia nuts and raspberry mousse). We loved everything we ate here — BUTTT the stuffs were quite creamy/ mousse-y.

3. Hwa Mei Bak Kut Teh

Per my dad’s recommendation, we just had to have this BKT. The last time I came here was probably 10 years ago. It’s still as good I remembered it. Note: not sure if they use MSG inside though so just keep that in mind. If you’re ok with that, the ribs are super lean (which I prefer, for health purposes), but still tender! Not fall off the bone style la, coz it’s lean. But very yummy still.

4. Doña Bakehouse

Not going to emphasise much here because we won’t come back. The cafe is close to the causeway and the space has high ceiling, so it’s airy & nice to chill.

Apart from food, we also paid a visit to Mr Ingredient to check out baking supplies. Specifically to look for kraft paper box packaging because I’m starting to sell some of my bakes now!! (Exciting)
