the best bAKES to impress your friends 👩🏻‍🍳🤯🤌🏻

ever since circuit breaker a few years back, i’ve grown into baking and the pseudo therapy it provides me 😆😆 and so over the years, i’ve done quite a number of bakes and these are what i would recommend for anyone starting out! (as well as ways to elevate them)

1. CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

this is probably one of the first few items you’ve baked and while you can never really go wrong with chocolate chip cookies, you can make it ✨extra special ✨ by switching out the choco chips for bar chocolate! this will result in a melty choco in your cookie instead of hard chunks! you can also be experimental and try adding edible flowers like i did! it creates a really interesting effect and they can be really pretty 🥰

2. MADELEINES

the ingredients for madeleines are the most basic baking essential ingredients! so besides requiring the mould, these are really easy bakes to make for your friends and family! i feel that they are a perfect treat for housewarmings, potlucks or just giving it to your friends and family :-) the ones i made were lemon madeleines and i brought them over for a cny gathering! they were super well received ✨

3. SHORTBREAD COOKIES

in my opinion, these are the most unadulterated cookies out there in the market - they are so versatile and are such a simple treat! i think the best way to “zhng” these up is to use different cookie cutters! there are a ton of cute ones in stores or online and i purchased a few sumikko gurashi and sesame street ones off shopee! 👍🏻

4. BASQUE CHEESECAKE

compared to normal japanese cakes that require a biscuit base, basque cheesecakes are easy as they require ~5 ingredients and you can easily change up the flavours! i once did a matcha 🍵 and original half/half but i’ve seen people experiment with hojicha, earl grey and hojicha so the combinations are endless! 🌷
