Qijin District

During one of my days in Kaohsiung, I visited Cijin Island which is just a 5min boat ride away from Gushan Ferry Pier.

Qi jin Old Street: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This old street is located where you alight from the boat. It sells some small eats, kind of like a night market and some beach accessories.

Cijin Beach: ⭐⭐⭐

I walked through the old street and reached the beach area and it was my first time seeing a black sand beach which was quite cool.

Photo spots: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The rainbow church structure is walkable from the beach. However, the weather was too hot so I rented an electric bike to explore the area. It was fun driving that 2-seater electric bike as it was my first time. I enjoyed the sea views that were along the way.

Tunnel of Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

After returning the electric bike, I walked to the tunnel of stars. I expected it to be a normal tunnel with cool lighting but the view at the end of the tunnel amazed me. The boulders by the sea and the huge waves made me feel relaxed after all the walking.

Mount Cihou: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A short walk away from the tunnel of stars. I hiked up and stopped at the lighthouse. From there, you can see almost the whole of Cijin Island and also the tall buildings at Kaohsiung mainland. It's one of the best spots to see Kaohsiung.

Travelling around Cijin Island is convenient and food options were plenty. Make sure to visit Cijin Island if you have a day to spend at Kaohsiung!
